It is an artful and documentary style of story telling from one of the most momentous times in any parents life. The pictures can be as graphic as you request. I’m there to be in the background and not be intrusive to the process.
Why Hire a Birth Photographer?
Why wouldn’t you? People spend upwards of $2500-$3500 on wedding photographers. Is the birth of your child not as important? I understand it’s an investment but most people never even look at their wedding pictures again after they get them but moms say they love to look back at their child’s birth photos all the time. It’s worth it, and you won’t regret it! Nothing can compare to the first time you see your baby and you become a family. Being a mom of two I can tell you that the first moments of meeting your baby is wonderful but your memories will unfortunately fade. In time people forget and you miss a lot of moments during the chaos. What family member wants to be holding a camera instead of being in the moment with their family when such a wonderful thing is happening. Your whole birth team is important and no one should be worried about pulling out their phone for a picture. I capture moments you never even knew happened. One of my favorites is your spouses face when they first see their baby for the first time. I would have loved to have a picture of my husband when he first saw my son and daughter born. Unfortunately there was no photographers that did that kind of thing around here when I had my kids. My family was suppose to take pictures of my experience but all I got of my birth story was 1 photo when my daughter was first born. I got none from the birth of my son. I am so sorry to say my memories of those special times in my life are very distant to me now after the years have passed.
I want to show you the story of your child’s birth with beautiful professional photos. A series of photos over the hours it takes to get to the finish line. To be able to look back at that time in your life is priceless!
How can I pay for this and when should I book you?
I do have payment plans if needed and you should book me ASAP. I only one session every two months so getting on my schedule sooner than later is best.
How does this process work?
We will meet a month before your due date at a mutual location to discuss what your expectations are. We can also at that time take care of any paperwork since you will be to busy for that the next time we see each other. When your family or doula calls me, I will come to where ever you are and start taking photos. I will stay with you until about an hour after the baby has arrived. I don’t want to be in the way of your bonding time but nursing and snuggles are important to some mommas. I will send sneak peaks as soon as I can because I know you will be excited to see them. Also, with your permission, a few will be posted to my Facebook page that you can share with family. You will be given a USB of 125-150 images, some in color and some in black and white around 2 weeks after the birth. If you choose to, you can purchase a video of 20-25 of your favorite photos to be put to music as a keepsake and/or share that with family and friends.
What if I have a short labor will I get any money back?
My package is a set rate. Your booking me to be available “on call” 24/7 for one week before and after your due date in case baby comes unexpectedly. This also includes travel expenses and my time editing all of your photos. If you live over an hour from my studio we will have to discuss travel expenses.
What if I have a C-Section?
It would be your responsibility to ask your doctor whether I would be allowed in the operating room. If not, there are plenty of photo opportunities before and after surgery to take pictures of new baby while you are in recovery.
If you are looking for a birth photographer in the Delmarva Area, or have questions, please give me a call or contact me here, and I would be happy to help you.
