Here are a few tips to remember when you are picking out your clothes for your fall photos with your family.
Coordinate but don’t match- You can have one person in the group with a pattern that themes the rest but keep everyone pretty neutral and in solids. You can have different shades of the same colors but nothing to “matchy matchy”. 🙂 Neutral fall colors are best. You can pick out a few color pops between everyone. Girl clothes usually have more choices so I always pick out theirs as the main color choice and pull ideas for everyone else from that outfit.Â
Accessorize- Now this doesn’t mean put a huge bow on top of the babies head where it gets more attention than the family but wearing something to compliment the rest of the group. Choose accent colors to pull everyone together.
Layers and textures- Wearing a few layers will give you a different look in some of the photos so they are not all so similar. Also having one person in a jean jacket and another in a ruffle top creates interest in the photo and gives everyone a chance to show their own style.
Subtle props- Being that it’s fall using a pumpkin or the leaves around you are always fun. The trick is not picking something that will be distracting but helps tell the story.
Shoes Matter- Now I love no shoes but in the fall and winter that isn’t really an option. Please don’t wear your funky tennis shoes! Boots or Mary Janes are adorable for girls and guys can causal shoes just not something they wear everyday.
Most Important!
Be comfortable- There is nothing worse than having kids that are in something itchy and hating what you put them in. You will get no happy faces like that. That goes for the dad too. 🙂 My husband hates pictures!
