In today’s age most photos people have are digital. We look at pictures all day on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, the list goes on. It seems like our whole world is online somewhere. Did you ever get the notification from the cloud that you needed more storage to hold everything?
Do you even know what pictures are on your phone until you come across them by accident and say: “Wow I didn’t even know these were on here”….?
When clients call me the first thing they ask is how much are digital files. I know that is what people want so I have that choice in my packages but what are you going to do with them? Do you really want to pay for professional photos and just leave them on a flash drive in your purse?
I was pulling things out of my attic this weekend and I found a floppy disc! Yes, I did and it said pictures on the front. Do you think there was a way to see what was on there? Nope, sorry, I hope they were not important. Even if I could see the files they could have been corrupted and not able to load anyway.
Does the photography art museum have that problem….no because there is a physical print of the art. That is what I want for your family. A beautiful piece of art that you can enjoy everyday that can be passed down to your children with no chance of losing it due to computer error.
Have you ever opened your school year book and it took you back to that time in your life just by seeing that photo? With family photos it’s even more emotional especially if someone in that photo is no longer here.
Emotions are provoked by photographs. Psychologist say that activities such as eating and drinking increased mood by 1% but looking at photographs increased mood by 11%. Reminding ourselves of positive times can improve how we feel and be extremely beneficial to the children in the photos. They know that they are loved and cared for when they have representation of themselves in the home.
Wouldn’t it be cool if 50 years from now when you are gone from this world your great-grandchildren will be looking at your photos in a family album? When you get professional portraits next time don’t get just digital files. Think of how priceless a print or album would be to future generations and how you could be the one that made that happen for them.
