When should I book my session, and how old should they be?
Newborn sessions are best at 7-10 days old and you’ll want to book your session as early as possible to secure your spot. I book your session based on your due date but I guarantee you a session as close to the 7 to 10-day-old time frame as possible. Sessions typically last 2-3 hours and I’m always sure to have the time it takes to get it right.
Should I bring outfits for them to wear?
I work with fabrics, wraps, baskets and blankets to capture beautiful images that will warm your heart forever. I also capture close up detail photos and family portraits that celebrate the new little person in your life. I will send out an more specific email to you once you book your session for info on what to wear for the parents.
How should I prepare for my newborn session?
I suggest you bring your baby to session a little sleepy and hungry so they can feed at the studio. Sleepy babies photograph much better than babies that are awake. We will get them undressed before they feed and when they fall asleep and they have a full belly I will get started.
Can I be photographed with my baby?
Absolutely! I encourage parents and siblings to be in some of the pictures. I love to capture the emotion of the first days of you with your new baby. There is nothing more beautiful than a mom or dad holding a newborn baby! I have plenty of wraps for moms to get those skin on skin photos but I do ask for parents to bring long sleeve neutral shirts with no buttons for you and siblings to serve as a backdrop for some of the images of the baby.
How does this all work and when do I get my pictures?
I do a pre-session consultation either over the phone or in the studio before the appointment so we can make sure I know what you are looking for. You can tell me your vision and I will add in my creativity to make it happen. Then after your photo session is over we will setup another appointment about 2 weeks later when you can come back and see all of your photos on a huge projection screen and sort through your images and decide what type of art you want to take home along with what digital files you want to purchase. I specialize in wall series and heirloom albums which is what I offer in my Create a Collection Packages.
Why is the booking fee a separate charge from the products order?
Your booking fee is the cost for your 2-3 hours in the studio. It gets you access to the entire collection of newborn props and accessories. You also get a pre-session phone consultation to go over how you want your photos to look. You receive 25-30 proof images that are fully edited to view at your ordering appointment. Your second appt is where you decide on which digital files you would like to purchase and what art you would like to add to make your custom package.
