Questions? We have the answers…
Why should I get Maternity photos taken
Pregnancy is more than just watching your belly grow. It is a journey that brings you from woman to a mom. Pregnancy is a learning experience; a physically and mentally changing one. Sure there some not-so-good days where you complain about your swollen feet that you can’t even see, sleepless nights because you just can’t get comfy, or those fun frequent trips to the ladies room, but the moment your eyes meet with your little one, who even remembers all that other stuff? The moments you want to remember are feeling your baby move and grow and how amazing you felt on the good days. A great way to remember this is to capture it in photographs. Portraits are meant to bring you back to that time in your life when they were taken. The photos are for you but all kids want to see a picture of their mom when they were pregnant with them. Those photos will be priceless for your children.
Can my partner be in the photos?
Yes, of course! Dad and your other kids may join the shoot as well. This is a time of celebration in a family, which I love to document.
How do I prepare for the session?
Not too much preparation is required on your part, but here are some pointers. The day of the shoot, don’t wear tight clothing, regular bras or other constricting bands; this will avoid marks on your skin. Strapless bras usually work the best and nude underware. Steer clear of salt the day before and day of your shoot to prevent bloating. Drink plenty of water and get a good night’s rest before your shoot. Have nails manicured because hands are often on your belly. I will take care of everything else!
Will it be in Studio or Outside?
You have the choice of either coming to the studio and getting photos or going to a location that you would like to meet. There is only time for one or the other but we can always setup two appointments if you would like to do both. On location booking fee is $300 in studio is $100.
What do I wear and what about makeup?
I am here to help you choose appropriate wardrobe and accessories. We go over all the details of what you are looking for when we do our pre-consult. I also have different fabrics to drape for those moms that want to do something more artistic. The top of this page shows only a few of my favorites but there are over 50 dresses to choose from in different colors and styles. Regardless of what type of session you decide on I promise you will have fun and look beautiful! As far as makeup, many women prefer a natural look for maternity photos but you can be as glam as you are comfortable with. If you need help finding a makeup artist please let me know.
Why is the booking fee a separate charge from the products order?
Your booking fee is the cost for your 1 hour in the studio. It gets you access to the entire collection of maternity dresses and accessories. You also get a pre-session phone consultation to go over how you want your photos to look. We also edit your 20-25 proof images before your ordering appointment. Your second appt is where you decide on which digital files you would like to purchase and what art you would like to add to make your custom package.
