Why should I get Maternity photos taken?
Pregnancy is more than just watching your belly grow. It is a journey that brings you from woman to a mom. Some may say those are the same, but any mom will tell you otherwise. Pregnancy is a learning experience; a physically and mentally changing one. Sure there may not-so-good days where you complain about your swollen feet that you can’t even see, sleepless nights because you just can’t get comfy, or those fun frequent trips to the ladies room, but the moment your eyes meet with your little one, who even remembers all that? The moments you want to remember are how you watched your baby grow and how amazing you felt on the good days. A great way to remember this is to capture it in photographs. Whether they are portraits to remind you how sexy you felt with your baby belly, or to show the love you felt for your baby on the way. Some just want photos to say: “yep, I was that big and I made it”! All kids want to see a picture of their mom when they were pregnant with them. Those photos will be priceless for your children.
Can my partner be in the photos?
Yes, of course! Any family that you would like in the photos may join the shoot. This is a time of celebration in a family, which I love to document.
How do I prepare for the session?
Not too much preparation is required on your part, but here are some pointers. The day of the shoot, don’t wear tight clothing, bras or other constricting bands; this will avoid marks on your skin. Steer clear of salt the day before and day of your shoot to prevent bloating. Drink plenty of water and get a good night’s rest before your shoot. Have nails manicured hands are often the since they are on your belly. I will take care of everything else!
How should I do my makeup?
Should I have it done professionally? Many women prefer a natural look for maternity photos. To achieve a face you are comfortable with but also translates well in photos, I recommend applying makeup as you normally would for daytime, but be sure to accentuate your cheek bones and wear plenty of mascara.
But what about my stretch marks, scars, etc!?
Have no fear, Photoshop is here. Any photo you select for your package will be retouched if you would like it to be. You will be happy with the results!
What do I wear?
Besides what you may already have in mind, I can help you choose appropriate wardrobe and accessories when we do our preconsult. Usually people come to me because of the handmade dresses that I have for all my pregnant moms in many different colors. They flatter everyone and I also have different fabrics to drape for those moms that want to do something more artistic. There are many examples on my portfolio section you can check out. Regardless of what type of session you decide on I promise you will have fun and look beautiful!
Will it be in Studio or Outside?
You have the choice of either coming to the studio and getting photos or going to a location that you would like to meet. There is only time for one or the other but we can always setup two appointments if you would like to do both. On location booking fee is $300 in studio is $100.
Why is the booking fee a separate charge from the products order?
Your booking fee is the cost for your 1 hour in the studio. It gets you access to the entire collection of maternity dresses and accessories. You also get a pre-session phone consultation to go over how you want your photos to look. You receive 20-25 proof images that are fully edited to view at your ordering appointment. Your second appt is where you decide on which digital files you would like to purchase and what art you would like to add to make your custom package.
